How to Print Left Chest Designs with Transfers

View all blog articles

Other than the typical middle chest location for a design on a shirt, left chest prints are the second most common location you will print onto garments.  Printing a transfer as a left chest design is simple, but not always easy. It is important to not print the design too low, or too close to the underarm.

Printing a left chest shirt should be done the same way as a crew t-shirt.  Simply load the garment and press it for three to five seconds to remove any wrinkles or moisture that might affect the print.  To properly align a left chest print you will want to first draw an imaginary line that cuts the shirt in half vertically. Then, draw another imaginary line that cuts the left side of the shirt in half.  Place the center of the transfer in the middle of the second line, about three to four inches below the collar.

Press the garment at the normal opaque hot peel transfer settings, which is 375 degrees at medium-to-heavy pressure (7-8) for eight to ten seconds.  Once the press has counted down, and the timer goes off, release the press and remove the transfer paper immediately, starting in a corner and peeling in a smooth and continuous motion.
